The Jersey Shore Workout is More Than Simply Exercising

“Big is out, thin is in.” – Mike Sorrentino (aka “The Situation”)

How are the Jersey Shore guys so cut?

Is there a secret Jersey Shore workout that will get you a washboard stomach?  With the long awaited season around the corner, I figured I’d publish a quick write-up to present my two cents.  My thought is that it goes far further than the things they do while working out.  Anyone who has seen Jersey Shore is aware how ripped the dudes are.  But how?  After all, these people are constantly gorging themselves on high-carb Italian feasts, funnel cakes, 2am pizzas, and a seemingly limitless supply of alcoholic beverages.  They aren’t really beacons of excellent health.  So how do you explain their great physical condition?  The answer is rather simple.  Two words: calorie deficit.

Having eating habits as obscene as their conduct, you would imagine these guys would certainly all weigh 300 lbs.   But bear in mind, consumption is just half of the formula.   Sure, they work out for a few hours a day, although that’s not it.  They also walk pretty much everywhere they are going and spend many evenings dancing, fist-pumping, and indulging in “other calorie burning activities”.   In short, their calorie output is perhaps more amazing than their calorie consumption.

What can we learn from this?

The simple truth is the guys on Jersey Shore do have a fitness plan and a very effective one at that.  They add on plenty of muscle with regular weight training sessions, lose excess fat continually with plenty of lower intensity walking, and crank their calorie burning right into the following day with high intensity dance parties during the night.  This schedule is so effective at obliterating stored fat that it makes the things they consume immaterial.

At the end of the day, the most important thing regarding achieving a lean physique is sustaining a caloric deficit.

The guys on Jersey Shore are living proof.   Unfortunately, most of us don’t hold the benefit of being able to wake at the crack of noon and spend all afternoon exercising before heading to the dance floor every night.  As a result, we also don’t have the luxury of stuffing our faces with pasta, burgers, and alcohol 24-7.  If we did this, we’d be far more prone to end up on a different reality program: The Biggest Loser.  The Jersey Shore men live in a calorie burning fantasy world which the rest of us have possibly never experienced or abandoned on the elementary school playground.

So what exactly can we do?

There are lots of strategies to generate a calorie deficit, but for an average individual, the best way would be to simply eat less.  I will incorporate more content on several tactics I personally use to accomplish this, but there’s one that’s so simple that anybody can start implementing it right away.  You don’t even have to have a grocery list.  It’s called intermittent fasting.  Brad Pilon is an authority on this subject.  He outlines everything you need to understand about intermittent fasting and how it works in his outstanding e-book.

Intermittent fasting has helped me and many other people acquire the slim and toned shape that is so desired in today’s modern society.  The amusing thing is that I’m certain “the Situation” and company unintentionally used this technique as well.  They didn’t carry out a top secret Jersey Shore workout routine.  They developed a calorie deficit and anyone can easily make this happen.   However, regular people will need to go about it a little differently.  And you thought Jersey Shore couldn’t teach us anything.  Shame on you.
